Kung Fu Punctuation
As part of the year 1 curriculum the children will begin to punctuate sentences using a capital letter and a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. We use Kung Fu Punctuation to help us remember each of the different punctuation marks. Watch the video below to watch the children performing the different actions.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a supportive first term back at Montreal Church of England School. The children have adapted well to having a new teacher and I am looking forward to the exciting activities planned for the summer term. To celebrate we enjoyed an Easter egg hunt on the beautiful, sunny last day of the term.
Jack and the Beanstalk Drama
As part of our traditional tale topic we studied the fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk. To help us retell the story we acted out the story and used the famous phrase: 'Fe Fi Fo Fum.'
The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about The Beatles as part of their history learning challenge. For this parental involvement we got creative and made our own yellow submarines. We enjoyed listening to some of The Beatles songs and even joined in singing to the famous song 'A Yellow Submarine.'
P.E - Cricket
The cold didn't stop us enjoying our first cricket session.
As part of our learning challenge: 'Why can't meerkats live in the North Pole?' we had an Artic day. Miss Kendall collected us from assembly and we all boarded the Polar Express train. We travelled to the classroom in our coats; we had to keep our coats on because it was so cold, there were even snowflakes on the floor. We learned where the North Pole was, talked about how the Inuit people lived and discovered how polar bears lived in the cold weather. To finish the exciting day we drank hot chocolate and watched the polar express.
Thanks to all the adults who attended the pizza making parental involvement day. It included performing: the Phunky Foods song, creating pizzas and peacefully relaxing during our mindfulness meditation. The children's behaviour was fantastic and as you can see from the pictures they had lots of fun making and eating their pizzas.
