Key information:

Homework:

Homework in Year 5 is sent home once a week, to be returned on the following Thursday. It is important that this homework is completed. It is vital to support the children’s learning within class and to help the children prepare for their transition into year 6 and beyond. If you have any questions surrounding the class homework the class teacher is more than happy to help!

Spellings:

Spellings are set weekly and tested every Friday afternoon. These spellings may be based on the Year 5/6 statutory spelling word list; a key spelling rule we have covered in class or high frequency words which many of the children struggle with. There might also be the occasional spelling based on subject specific vocabulary.

Reading:

In year 5 we understand that reading for pleasure is essential. We ask that the children read at least three times a week. This can be documented in the children’s reading record.
Forest school days:
Our forest school’ days take place every Thursday. It is important that all the children bring suitable and weather appropriate clothing. They will be outside regardless of the weather! 

PE:

Our PE lessons take place every Monday afternoon. The children will be required to wear suitable PE kits. This term the children are learning the skills and tactics required to become an effective basketball player!
